Making life better

Biffaward

The Biffaward fund is part of the government's Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) previously known as the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme (LTCS). The scheme allows landfill operators to donate a percentage of landfill tax for the benefit of community and environmental taxes, compensating communities living near landfill sites for any inconvenience and adverse impact caused by their operations.

Biffaward grants of £50,000 maximum are available (including 10 per cent Rural Action East project management fee):
  • For the provision of or improvement to a public facility or amenity for the benefit of and use by local community.
  • Bio-diversity projects are required to protect the environment, conserve or promote biological diversity through restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat or maintenance for a natural species
  • Structures and buildings for religious worship, historic or architectural interest.  Please note we only consider projects delivering wider community benefits. We do not fund repairs for clocks, organs, bells etc.
Projects must realise grants are highly competitive and projects must have efficient match-funding in place.
Any project wishing to apply must be within 10 miles of a Biffa Landfill site and a landfill waste operation.

To check your project's eligibility, enter the postcode for it's location on the Biffaward Proximity test facility, on the Biffaward website.

The aim of Rural Action East is to help communities put together an application to maximise the chance of success.

If you have any ideas for a project that may be eligible for a Biffaward grant, and would like to discuss a possible application please telephone Rural Action East on 01473 242530 enquiries@ruralactioneast.org.uk

Biffaward also take independent applications. Please visit the Biffaward website www.biffaward.org for more information.

Thank you for supporting Biffaward
