Suffolk steps up the Broadband Campaign with County Conference
May 7th, 2010
What: Suffolk Broadband Conference
When: Wednesday 12th May from 9.30am – 3.30pm
Where: Trinity Park, Ipswich
Next week the Suffolk Broadband Partnership steps up its campaign to secure better and faster high speed broadband infrastructure for Suffolk by hosting the first countywide broadband conference.
High speed broadband is vital to our county’s future prosperity and this event is designed to help highlight the need to give Suffolk:
· businesses a chance to become more competitive players within the online marketplace
· learners with IT access that they need to achieve their qualifications and to raise their aspirations
· residents the best online services for healthcare, culture and other aspects of every day life – in fact to aid social inclusion
The conference, organised and part funded by Suffolk County Council, will give delegates the opportunity to identify their broadband problems and will offer some suggestion for solutions. It will also highlight progress made to date by the Suffolk Stakeholder Partnership in engaging businesses, the local community as well as providers of infrastructure and online services, who can help plug the broadband ‘notspots’ in rural areas.
Plan for provision of faster broadband in Suffolk will be showcased along with UK best practices and future technical developments. Delegates will also receive information on cutting edge service developments and practical examples of action that they can take to mobilise action for faster broadband.
Conference places cost £15 and can still be reserved by email. Suffolk County Council is particularly interested in hearing from rural businesses and community groups with an interest in taking forward faster broadband along with service providers.
