Ipswich Dial-A-Ride Ltd provides wheelchair accessible minibuses for people unable to use ordinary public transport within Ipswich, for social, shopping, doctors and dentists, but not hospital appointments. Fares are set depending upon journey distance but should be approximately the same as the relevant bus fare.

  • The service operates Monday – Friday, 09.30 -16.30, with a Tuesday evening & Sunday morning service subject to demand and drivers.
  • Passengers must register with the service before use. There is no charge for registration.
  • Bookings can be taken up to one week in advance.
  • Fares are charged at a set rate dependant on journey length.
  • Minimum fare is £1.20p, maximum is £2.80p (current at July 2008).
  • Travel vouchers (available from local district/borough council) are accepted but not bus passes.

Ipswich Dial A Ride Excursions

Ipswich Dial A Ride also offer excursions where one of the volunteer drivers donates more of his time so that our passengers can enjoy the occasional day out. Passangers should be regualr users of the service to qualify.

      

During the year excursions are arranged to the coast and local attractions – all of which are extremely popular. They usually take place at a weekend and are often over- subscribed.

We need Volunteer Drivers!

Willing to undertake training?

What is needed?

  • A Clean Driving Licence with a D1 Category.
  • Reasonable health & fitness.
  • A willingness to help others.
  • Age up to 75 – a medical needed after
    70yrs of age.
