The Boundary Committee for England published on 7 July 2008 its draft proposals for unitary structures of local government in Suffolk and Norfolk.&amp;#160; These were:-
&amp;#160;

    for Suffolk: to split the County into an Ipswich &amp;amp; Felixstowe unitary authority and a unitary authority comprising the rest of the county apart from the Lowestoft area.
    for Norfolk: a Norfolk unitary authority comprising the existing county of Norfolk and the Lowestoft area of Suffolk.

        <title>Charity's new hospital transport</title>
        <description><![CDATA[A charity is teaming up with Ipswich Hospital to provide a new transport service for outpatients from April. 
Suffolk Acre will run Hospital Link using a new 15-seat minibus for a service to and from hospital for people in the IP1 to IP5 postcode areas. 
Expansion to a wider range of postcode areas is already being planned. 
The service is door-to-door for patients who have mobility problems when travelling alone and the mini-bus is specially adapted for wheelchairs.

Suffolk ACRE Good Neighbour Scheme Co-ordinator Gavin Hodge was the keynote speaker at a Good Neighbour Scheme conference organised by Pembrokeshire County Council. 
Gavin gave a presentation to 58 delegates at Letterston Village Hall near Haverfordwest, and fully explained the working of the Suffolk ACRE Good Neighbour Scheme, which now numbers 19 individual schemes around the county.

The Funding Team at Suffolk ACRE held a celebration event in the Galleria Suite at Ipswich Town Football Club to mark the achievements of the Local Network Fund. 

The event was attended by groups who had received funding through the Local Network Fund over the past 6 years and a number of special guests many of whom have been associated with the fund. 200 people attended the day to celebrate the fantastic sum of &amp;pound;2,421,196.00 having been awarded to groups working with Children and Young people in the County.

        <description><![CDATA[Suffolk ACRE Good Neighbour Scheme Co-ordinator Gavin Hodge was invited by Radio Suffolk to take part in their debate on Post Office closures in Suffolk Coastal today.

Gavin said the closures gave rise to concern for the health and wellbeing of elderly people who relied on the Post Office not only for services but also for social interaction. He agreed with East Anglian Daily Times Editor Terry Hunt that rural Post Offices would not necessarily need to be profit-making if they had proper Government support.

A community transport idea proposed by Suffolk ACRE, the Ipswich-based rural communities council for Suffolk, has won &amp;pound;1000 worth of safety equipment for wheelchair users in a national competition.

The entry by the VST (Venue Specific Transport) wing of Suffolk ACRE&amp;rsquo;s Community Transport section was runner up in the competition run by safety equipment manufacturers Unwins with a fully-equipped Volkswagen Crafter minibus as the top prize.
